PORTSMOUTH R.I. (WLNE) — The Newport Car Museum in Portsmouth said they’re offering moms free admission on Mother’s Day.

The museum said admission for moms between Sunday, May 14, and Monday, May 15 will be free when a family member purchases one adult ticket.

Free admission for moms will align with one day of the museum’s “hoods up weekend” where hoods are propped open so visitors can see what makes their cars roar.

The car museum also announced they will be unveiling a rare recreation of a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Mille Miglia recreation.

Museum officials said the Gull-Wing international club will bring the authentic recreation, made by former Formula 1 driver Scuderia Bucci, to pay homage to the record-breaking original car driven by Mercedes team driver Stirling Moss in 1955.
