Newport community seeks donations for July 4 fireworks show

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — The City of Newport is asking the community for help to light up Newport Harbor ahead of its annual Fourth of July fireworks celebration.

“The city is asking all to get involved in the celebration by donating to the city’s Fireworks Fund,” Communications Officer Tom Shevlin said.

He added that all donors will be recognized by the city online and in print.

Those who wish to donate should make a check payable to the “City of Newport” with a notation of “Fireworks Fund” on the memo line, and mail it to the attention of the Mayor’s Office, 43 Broadway, Newport, R.I. 02840.

This year’s fireworks display is scheduled for 9:15 pm on Tuesday, July 4 at the Newport harbor.

A rain date of Wednesday, July 5 has also been scheduled.
