Newport Food and Wine Festival to hold scaled-down events

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) – The Newport Food and Wine Festival is still taking place during the pandemic.

The festival kicks off on a much smaller scale than usual and with all state health and safety precautions in place.

The Newport Preservation Society will be offering 12 seminars over the next three days. Normally up to 1,400 people are in attendan

ce, but this year there will be just 50.

The society is also partnering with local restaurants to help them boost business.

Trudy Coxe, CEO and Executive Director of the Newport Preservation Society said, “The response we have had has been phenomenally positive from many people for having the guts to try something new and different.”

Former Patriots player Jarvis Green will be attending and speaking at this year’s festival. Green is now known for his Louisiana based shrimp company.
