Newport’s contemporary ballet to hold auditions in September

NEWPORT, R.I (WLNE) – Island Moving Company (IMC), Newport’s contemporary ballet will be holding auditions for children’s roles in this year’s production of Newport Nutcracker at Rosecliff. 

Auditions for the ballet will be held at IMC’s studios at 3 Charles Street, in Newport on September 14. 

These auditions will be held from 1:30 – 3:30 for children ages 7-11 and from 4:00 to 6:00 for Children 12 an up. 

This year, the company particularly seeks dancers in the older group with pointe training for expanded roles in the production. 

Auditions will be held in the form of a ballet class, and all children should have ballet training and should be dressed appropriately. 

Candidates are asked to arrive a half-hour before the audition time. 

 There will be an audition fee of $30 if registered by September 9th or $40 after September 9th.

Additionally, IMC’s ballet school, Newport Academy of Ballet will hold an open house at the Charles Street studio on Tuesday, August 21 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
