NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Diocese of Fall River said that a North Attleborough priest was placed on administrative leave last week.

Rev. Rodney Thibault, of Transfiguration of the Lord Parish, was placed on administrative leave amidst an investigation into alleged misconduct.

The misconduct was “inconsistent with standards of ministerial behavior and in direct violation of the Code of Conduct for priests in the Diocese of Fall River,” the diocese wrote in a statement.

The diocese said that the misconduct did not involve any minors.

Bishop Edgar da Cunha appointed Rev. Michael Ciryak will serve as the temporary administrator of the parish.

During his leave, Thibault is not allowed to present himself as a priest in public settings or exercise public ministry.

Thibault was first appointed as the pastor of North Attleborough’s three parishes back in 2020. The three parishes merged to form the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish in 2020.
