North Attleborough residents ‘petrified’ of more potential flooding this week

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — After torrential downpour sparked severe flooding Monday night across town, North Attleborough residents cleaned up “some of the worst” residential damage they’ve ever seen.

Town officials during a press conference said 200 homes had experienced water damage from the floods, and their emergency crews responded to 150 calls for help.

They said 20 local communities provided mutual aid.

With rain in the forecast, many residents are expecting the same damage all over again.

“I am petrified,” said one resident whose basement flooded. “I will probably have to leave the city to find one knowing everything is going to be sold out here.”

Another resident’s basement was still taking on water, adding, “It’s not getting worse, but it’s still coming in.”

Officials have closed out several town roads and are prepared for more flooding this week.

No one was seriously injured in the town wide rescue and cleanup efforts.
