NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — North Kingstown police on Tuesday introduced its newest four-legged furry officer.

K-9 “Roko” is an 18-month-old Belgian Malinois from Czechoslovakia.

“He makes his new home on the beat in North Kingstown serving its citizenry,” said police in a release Tuesday.

Roko, along with his handler Officer John Baker, completed a 12-week training at the Rhode Island K-9 Academy — certifying them as a police patrol dog team.

The K-9 will later train to become a narcotics detection dog.
