North Kingstown police officer carries Special Olympics torch

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — North Kingstown police officer Timothy Sheehy carried the Rhode Island Special Olympics torch on its journey to the state house Friday.

The department said Sheehy ran the torch from one end of town to the other.

The Rhode Island Special Olympics Summer Games is happening throughout the weekend and has more than 1,000 athletes from 33 teams set to compete.

the swim and powerlifting competitions are set to occur Sunday.
