North Kingstown School Committee to share findings of investigative report on basketball coach at Wednesday’s meeting

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE)- The North Kingstown School Committee will share the findings of the investigative report done on longtime high school basketball coach Aaron Thomas, during Wednesday night’s meeting.

Chairman Gregory Blasbalg said that the committee plans on sharing the results of the “Phase 1″ investigation with students, parents, and community members.

The investigation is being handled by Michael Oliverio.

” The Phase 1 investigation report identifies facts that support the School Department’s termination of Mr. Thomas,” said Blasbalg.

The “Phase 2” part of Oliverio’s investigation will expand to which members of the North Kingstown School Department knew what was happening with Thomas and the basketball team.

Oliverio’s second report isn’t expected to be completed until January.

Once the results of both phases are released, the committee will take what it deems to be appropriate measures to keep students safe.

“This School Committee has taken decisive and required actions to remove Mr. Thomas and to get to the bottom of what occurred regarding his behavior,” said Blasbalg.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m.
