North Providence Police searching for suspect connected to Friday bank robbery

NORTH PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – North Providence police are searching for a man they suspect of robbing a Citizens Bank on Smith Street Friday.

Police say the man entered the bank around noon and presented a teller with a handwritten note demanding cash. The suspect provided the teller with a plastic shopping bag to put the money in.

The teller put an undetermined amount of US currency into the plastic shopping bag and then the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction, police say.

The man is described as wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, light colored shorts, white sneakers, and a Boston Red Sox hat.

He was also wearing a mask and gloves, police say.

Police ask anyone with information concerning the identity of the suspect is asked to call Det. Daniel Biafore at 401-231-4533 ext. 1174.
