North Providence swears in new Police Chief

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Retired State Police Major David Tikoian was officially sworn in tonight as the new Chief of Police in North Providence Tuesday evening.

Tikoian is replacing Chris Pelagio who was suspended after a verbal altercation with a Cranston Police officer.

Law enforcement officials from around the state were there for the swearing in that took place at North Providence High School.

Mayor Lombardi said he hopes Tikoian will help the department turn the page.
