North Smithfield pet groomer now in police custody
NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) – A pet groomer charged with animal cruelty is now in the custody of the North Smithfield Police Department
John Froias, a pet groomer at Doggie Styles Pet Spa in North Smithfield, is charged with the following:
- Four counts care of dogs
- Four counts of felony cruelty to animals
- Five counts of unlicensed practice of veterinary medicine
- One count of obstructing a police officer
- One count of simple assault
Froais was previously arrested and arraigned in January, and was released on $5000 personal recognizance and ordered to have no care, custody or control of any animals.
A search warrant conducted in June at Doggie Styles Pet Spa found 15 cats and one dog being held in hazardous living environments without access to food or water.
Froias will be arraigned in Kent County District Court today.
