North Smithfield Police Chief retires

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I (WLNE) – North Smithfield Police announced on Thursday that Chief Steven E. Reynolds will be retiring at the end of his shift. 

Chief Reynolds served as Chief of Police for the town of North Smithfield for 24 years. 

Prior to becoming Chief of Police, he served 22 years as a member of the Rhode Island State Police, eventually retiring as Captain-Detective Commander. 

The department said, “his steady hand, calm courteous demeanor, and his demand for the highest standards in law enforcement practice will be long remembered.” 

Chief Reynolds set a record as the longest-serving Police Chief since the department’s inception in 1934. 

The North Smithfield Police department wishes Chief Reynolds good health as he steps into the world of retirement.
