UPDATED – North Smithfield Residents Fighting for School Sports
Just a few months ago, there was a lot of talk about cutting middle and high school sports in North Smithfield.
But, thanks to a huge effort from the community, the schools are now back in the game.
Residents launched a campaign to raise the necessary money to keep school sports financed. They want to raise about $100,000 and are a little less than halfway there, but did manage to keep the annual Thanksgiving game on this year.
ABC6 Reporter Erin Logan has the story from North Smithfield.
UPDATE – ABC6 News has learned that Wednesday night's fundraising event raised $18,000 towards the goal of $110,000.
