The number of homeless families in Rhode Island is on the rise.

“So we are seeing an intensifying of the need.  It's the time of year, it's the weather, it's difficult for folks, individuals or families to be out right now,” said John MacDonald, Crossroad's Vice President of Adult Services.

MacDonald says they're seeing three to four new families each day.

“Having families out this time of year if really difficult.  The number particularly is a result of benefits, funding, being down.  Our funding has been down the last couple of years so all of these facts coming together are having this impact,” said MacDonald.
