NY Jets’ Edwards “Headed For Trial”
Lawyer: NY Jets' Edwards headed toward trial
NEW YORK (AP) – The attorney for Braylon Edwards says the New
York Jets star is “headed for trial,” at least for now, in his
New York City DWI case.
Edwards was excused from court Monday because his flight from
Los Angeles was canceled. A Manhattan judge set a July 22 hearing
on whether certain evidence will be admitted.
Lawyer Peter Frankel was asked outside court about plea talks.
Frankel said that, at this point the case is “headed for
trial.” But Frankel also says, “We're always talking about
possible resolutions in the case.”
Police allege the wide receiver's blood-alcohol level was twice
the legal limit during the September stop.
The 28-year-old is scheduled to become a free agent. Players are
currently locked out amid a contract clash with the NFL.
