Officers arrest driver who left the scene of a car accident involving state lawmaker

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – Police arrested a man Tuesday who fled the scene of a three-car crash on I-95 involving a state lawmaker.

Larry Berman, spokesperson for the Rhode Island House of Representatives, confirmed that the accident involved Rep. Nathan Biah.

Biah was reared-ended getting off of the State Offices exit on Route 95.

According to Rhode Island State Police, one of the drivers involved in the three-car accident fled the scene. A brief foot pursuit ensued and a man was arrested on Charles Street.

State police said Tuesday afternoon they arrested 32-year-old Robert Pagliarini of Providence.

Pagliarini was charged with leaving the scene, disorderly conduct, and obstruction.

Biah is doing OK but is shaken up, Berman said, and will be getting checked out at the hospital.

Both Providence and Rhode Island State Police were on the scene. The accident scene has since been cleared.
