NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) – Emergency crews are responding to a small plane crash in a Massachusetts cemetery.

The Federal Aviation Administration says a Cessna 150 crashed at the Rural Cemetery in New Bedford, Mass. at about 3 p.m. Monday.

The agency said the only person on board was the pilot, but that it did not have information about their condition.

The FAA says the plane departed from New Bedford Regional Airport, which is about 5 miles north of the cemetery, which dates to the 1800s and is located near the Rhode Island state line.

The agency says it will investigate and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine the probable cause of the accident.

The New Bedford firefighters’ union said on its social media accounts that its members were responding to the crash.
