PORTSMOUTH, R.I (WLNE) – Portsmouth Police were called to a home on Johnnycake Lane after a report of an individual was threatening to barricade himself inside his residence.
The individual, now identified as Daniel Moffa learned that a warrant had issued by Rhode Island State Police for a parole violation.
Police say Moffa had been making comments that he was going to harm others who were also on scene.
Moffa exited the home with a steak knife in hand.
Officers on scene drew their weapons and spoke with Moffa, who police say refused to drop the knife several times.
After speaking with Moffa for several minutes, officers managed to convince him to comply with the order.
He was then taken into custody on the warrant, and later transported to the Intake Servicer Center in Cranston RI for the parole violation.
