PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A Johnston man has died after an early morning crash in Providence.

The driver has been identified as 20-year-old David Gomez.

According to Commander Thomas Verdi, the crash happened on Manton Avenue at 4:20 a.m. Saturday morning.

Gomez’s Honda Civic mounted a sidewalk and collided with a rock wall, before crashing into a utility pole.

Authorities said that weather may have played a factor into the crash, as roadways were slick from rain and wind throughout the early morning.
