One flown to hospital after serious accident in Walpole

WALPOLE, Mass. (WLNE) – A person was transported to a hospital by helicopter after a serious car accident in Walpole on Monday morning.

Walpole police responded to a car accident on School Street and Hanson Avenue at 11 a.m.

Police said a flat bed tractor-trailer unit, carrying steel beams was backing into a commercial parking lot across from School Street.  While the truck was backing up, a car heading southbound on School Street struck the overhanging I-beams.

The operator of the car suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Boston Hospital by helicopter. The driver of the truck was uninjured.

The accident is under investigation by the Walpole Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit, as well as the Massachusetts State Police Truck-Team.
