WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) – One man was left seriously injured after crashing his vehicle into several parked boats and trailers Thursday night in Warwick.

Warwick Police responded to the area of 3630 West Shore Road just after 11:00 p.m. Thursday for reports of a car crashing into a series of boats and trailers at Wood Boat and Motor.

Officers on scene located an unresponsive male victim trapped in the front seat of his 1997 Honda Accord. Warwick Fire freed the victim from the vehicle using rescue equipment.

Police said the crash occurred when the operator struck a curb and utility pole before crashing into and damaging six boats and seven trailers parked at the site.

The victim, identified as 26-year-old Jared Sosby, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.

Warwick Police said while speed appears to be a factor, the accident may have been caused by a medical emergency.

The crash is under investigation.
