UPDATED: Providence Shooting Victim Identified

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Providence police are investigating the killing of a man found shot in the head and handcuffed on a city sidewalk.

The Providence Journal reports police have identified the victim as 26-year-old Anthony Stone. He was found on Broadway in the city's Federal Hill neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say Stone was shot several times inside his home, then went outside and collapsed on the sidewalk. They say broken plastic handcuffs were on his wrists. The Journal reports Stone had been free on bail on charges of dealing cocaine.

Authorities believe Stone was targeted, but the motive isn't clear.

A friend of the man said he had just been released from prison and gotten a job at P.F. Chang's restaurant at the Providence Place Mall.
