Drug Overdose a Factor in Cranston Drowning

A 38-year-old man who was found in the Pocasset River in Cranston on Saturday morning overdosed on drugs before falling into the river, according to Cranston Police.

Police do not know how long Ryan Strumar, 38, was in the river before they found him, but they say drugs definitely played a part in the man's death.

Strumar, police say, was with a woman at the time of his death. Police have not released her name, but say that both were under the influence of drugs prior to the drowning.

Cranston Police say that the woman, whose name is not being released at this time, may face charges depending on the outcome of the investigation. It remains unclear what her role was in Strumar's death.

Police ruled the drowning an accident and not suspicious.
