PawSox End Scoring Drought But Lose To Yankees

The Drought Continues for the PawSox

 

The Scranton Wilkes Barre Yankees came to town on Friday and beat the PawSox 2-1. Pawtucket managed 7 hits, yet was unable to score against the trio of Lance Pendleton, Ryan Pope and Eric Wordekemper. They eked out a run in the ninth against Kevin Whelan. The PawSox had not scored a run since the second inning on Thursday, a span of 21 innings. They have scored just 3 runs in their last 41 innings. In the process, Pawtucket (18-17) has lost 4 straight games.

Brandon Duckworth was outstanding in a losing effort. Duckworth (4-2) allowed a single run in the top of the first and that was it. The righty struck out 7 hitters while giving up just 2 hits. Josh Reddick and Lars Anderson accounted for four PawSox hits. Anderson had 2 doubles and Reddick had a pair of singles. Daniel Nava knocked in the only Pawtucket run.

The series continues on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. Kris Johnson (2-1, 10.61) will start in place of Felix Doubront (groin).
