P-Bruins news release…

WORCESTER, MA. – The Providence Bruins fell to the Worcester Sharks tonight at the DCU Center in their third meeting of the season.

Capitalizing on their power play, Melker Karlsson put the Sharks up 1-0 with a backhander past Providence goaltender Malcolm Subban. Bryan Lerg and Chris Tierney were credited with the assists. But with 5:10 to go in the period, the P-Bruins tied it up. Cory Kane got one past Worcester’s goaltender Troy Grosenick. The goal, assisted by Chris Casto and Drew MacKenzie, was Kane’s first of the year. Khokhlachev’s power play goal was assisted by Steve Eminger and put the P-Bruins up 2-1.

But the Sharks continued to fight back in the third. Two quick strikes helped them regain the lead. First at 7:09, Chris Tierney tied it up with a goal assisted by Eriah Hayes and Matt Taormina. The goal was Tierney’s first professional goal. Then minutes later at 10:19, Eriah Hayes found the back of the net and put the Sharks up 3-2. With 2:49 left in the period, Ryan Carpenter added another one for Worcester to put them up 4-2. Melker Karlsson and Matt Tennyson were credited with the assists.
