P-Bruins Skate Past Portland at the Dunk
PROVIDENCE, RI –
Coming off back-to-back losses to the Worcester Sharks, the P-Bruins were working hard to turn the momentum around. They got out to an early lead at 6:51 when Tyler Randell netted a rebound from Anthony Camara, who was appearing in his first game for Providence this season. Randell’s goal put Providence up 1-0. Then with just 1:26 left in the first, the P-Bruins got their second goal of the period. Alexander Khokhlachev capitalizes on the Providence power play and nets a goal to put the P-Bruins up by 2. Craig Cunningham and Zach Trotman were credited with the assists.
The intensity continued into the second period. While Providence would have some chances in front of the net early on, they wouldn’t be able to find the back of the net in the second period. At 6:42 Portland finally gets on the board. With traffic in front of the net, forward Alexandre Bolduc gets one past Providence goaltender Jeremy Smith for their first goal of the night. Bolduc’s goal, assisted by Jordan Martinook and Henrik Samuelsson, marked his second of the season.
Temper’s flared in the third period once again and with 5:13 left in regulation, Jordan Caron dropped the gloves and lost his helmet in a scuffle with Portland’s Andrew Campbell. Both players went to the penalty box for two minutes for roughing and took the game into it’s third 4-on-4 of the night. Both teams battled on and with 1:05 left to go in the game Portland pulled goaltender Louis Domingue. Seth Griffith put the puck in the empty net with just 11.8 seconds remaining to seal the deal for Providence. The final score of the game was 3-1.
