Paid family leave for Rhode Islanders

Beginning January 1st workers in Rhode Island will be allowed to collect a portion of their check for up to four weeks if they need to take time off to care for a baby or a sick relatives. (Ailing parent, Grandparent or spouse)
Governor Chafee signed the bill Thursday afternoon, making Rhode Island the third state to pass this bill; following California and New Jersey.
The funding for this bill will be administrated through the Department of labor and training by paycheck deductions.
