A partial settlement was approved by a Superior Court judge Friday as part of the 38 Studios lawsuit.

Judge Michael Silverstein approved the settlement involving four defendants in the case.

The defendants, Keith Stokes and J. Michael Saul, both former officers with the state’s Economic Development Corp, along with the law firm Adler, Pollock & Sheehan, P.C, and lawyer Robert I. Stolzman will pay $12.5 million as part of the settlement.

The lawsuit is over Rhode Island’s failed $75 million deal with ex-Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling’s video game company 38 Studios.

The state sued Schilling and others over the collapse of 38 Studios, which got a state-backed loan.
