Patriots Cancel Friday Practice After New COVID-19 Positive Test is Reported

The New England Patriots have canceled their Friday practice after another positive COVID-19 test was reported by ESPN. The player who tested positive was later reported to be offensive lineman James Ferentz.

The network also reported that there may be another positive test. Further evaluation is being held.

The Patriots held a full practice Thursday after quarterback Cam Newton, corner Stephon Gilmore, and practice squad defensive tackle Bill Murray cleared the NFL’s COVID protocols.

New England still has defensive tackle Byron Cowart on the COVID-19 Reserve list.

The team released a statement Friday afternoon, “Patriots practice and media availability today has been cancelled. No further information is available at this time.”

This is a developing story.
