Patriots Free Agent Class Set Sights on Returning to Glory

The Patriots have been one of the NFL’s top spenders so far in free agency, guaranteeing about $175 million in salary to 19 players.

The number is roughly equal to what team owner Robert Kraft paid for the franchise in 1994. It’s outside the norm for a typically frugal organization. Receiver Kendrick Bourne says there’s already a natural connection between his fellow free agent signees. He believes the Patriots’ spending spree is a sign the six-time Super Bowl champions want to put their 7-9 finish in 2020 behind them.
