Patriots Put On Pads Monday, Three Key Names Miss Team Reps, Strange Reportedly Avoids Serious Injury

The Patriots putting on the pads for the first time Monday on Day 5 of Training Camp.

During competitive team reps, key names Rhamondre Stevenson, Matthew Judon and Trent Brown all were missing from the session, going through conditioning on a lower practice field.

Five players were hurt during the first day with pads, including last year’s first round pick, Cole Strange. According to Christopher Price of the Boston Globe, a league source telling him Strange’s leg injury is “not serious.”

Defensive back Brad Hawkins was among the injured and had to be helped off the field.

Otherwise, on the field, the Pats trying some things, including putting linebacker Jahlani Tavai at fullback at one point, which drew some playful remarks from his defensive teammates like Davon Godchaux.

Camp continues on Tuesday in Foxboro.
