Pats Officially Place LeGarrette Blount on Injured Reserve, Sign DL Kitchen

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today that they have placed RB LeGarrette Blount on injured reserve and released WR Damaris Johnson.
Blount left the Houston game last Sunday night in the first half with a hip injury. He has played in 12 games in 2015 with six starts and had 703 yards rushing on 165 attempts with six touchdowns.
Johnson, 26, was signed by the Patriots on Dec. 1, 2015, and played in one game and was inactive for another, finishing with one rushing attempt for six yards. He also played with Philadelphia (2012-13) and Houston (2014). The 5-foot-8, 175-pounder, went to training camp this past summer with Houston but was released on Sept. 5, 2015. Johnson originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Philadelphia out of Tulsa in 2012. He was released by Philadelphia on Aug. 30, 2014, and was claimed by Houston on Aug. 31, 2014. Johnson has played in 44 games with nine starts and has 52 receptions for 601 yards one touchdown, 23 kickoff returns for 577 yards and 49 punt returns for 448 yards with one touchdown.
The New England Patriots announced today that they have signed DL Ishmaa’ily (pronounced – ish-MAY-lee) Kitchen.
In addition, the Patriots signed LB Kevin Snyder to the practice squad and released RB Trey Williams from the practice squad.
Kitchen, 27, played three seasons with the Cleveland Browns (2012-14) and spent two games with the Detroit Lions in 2015 after being released by the Browns prior to the start of the regular season. The 6-foot-1, 330-pounder, originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Baltimore Ravens in 2012 out of Kent State. He was released by the Ravens at the end of training camp and was claimed off waivers by Cleveland. During his time in Cleveland, Ishmaa’ily played in 40 games with three starts and totaled 90 tackles. He played in one game with Detroit as a reserve but did not register any tackles before released on Oct. 23.
Snyder, 23, originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Detroit Lions out of Rutgers in 2015. The 6-foot-2, 240-pounder, suffered an injury in the preseason and began the year on the Lions’ injured reserve list. After being released on Oct. 13, he was signed by San Francisco to the practice squad on Nov 24 before being released from the practice squad on Dec. 1.
Williams, 22, was released by the Patriots on Dec. 10, 2015, after being claimed off waivers by New England from Dallas on Dec. 1, 2015. He was then signed to the practice squad on Dec. 12. Williams originally signed with Washington as a rookie free agent out of Texas A&M on May 7, 2015. The 5-foot7, 195-pounder, was released by Washington at the end of training camp and began the season on the Redskins’ practice squad. He was signed by Dallas to the 53-man roster and was inactive for four games before being released by the Cowboys on Nov. 30.
