PawSox news release…

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Pawtucket Red
Sox fell to the Rochester Red Wings by a final score of 1-0 in 10 innings Friday night at Frontier Field.

Both clubs threatened immediately in the 1st inning, but neither came across with runs. Pawtucket mounted a two-out rally with
a single and walk, but a Bryce Brentz strikeout ended the inning.

In
the bottom half Antoan Richardson led off with a triple to right center
against Brandon Workman. After a strikeout, Chris Colabello walked
to put runner on the corners. Workman then struck out Jeff Clement and
Deibinson Romero to end the inning with no damage done.

The PawSox mounted a scoring chance in the 3rd
as Jeremy Hazelbaker single to lead-off the inning and moved to second
with one
out after Mark Hamilton singled to left field. Will Middlebrooks then
lined to center field and Hazelbaker was doubled up at second base as he
though the ball was going to fall in for a hit.

After
the first inning, Workman was in control of the Rochester offense. He
allowed just five base runners over the next 5.1 innings and
exited after allowing an infield single in the 7th. Brock
Huntzinger came in out of the bullpen and retired the next two batters
in order. Workman finished his outing throwing 6.1 scoreless innings
allowing just five hits with five strikeouts.

In the 9th, Mark Hamilton drew a one out walk and moved to second on a ground out, but was stranded there on a pop up on the infield.

Huntzinger pitched 2.2 innings for the PawSox taking the game into extra innings.

Pawtucket had a one out base runner in the 10th, but Justin Henry was anchored at first.

In the bottom of the 10th,
Chris Martin came in out of the Sox bullpen. Lead-off man James
Beresford reached on an infield single.
Richardson then laid down a sacrifice bunt that catcher Alberto Rosario
threw into shallow right field moving Beresford to third. Chris Hermann
was walked intentionally to load the bases. Martin would strike out
Colabello before allowing a game-winning RBI
single to Jeff Clement and give the Red Wings 4th straight victory, a 1-0 thriller in Rochester.

The
PawSox will continue their road trip against North Division foes
Rochester and Lehigh Valley. Pawtucket will send knuckleballer Steven
Wright (4-5) to the mound against Logan Darnell (0-1) of Rochester
tomorrow night at 6:05pm.

Pawtucket
will return to McCoy Stadium for a four game homestand prior to the
All-Star Break against Rochester beginning Thursday, July 11th
at 7:05pm through Sunday July 14th.
