PawSox Lose Pitchers Duel

PawSox come up short 1-0

The PawSox and Syracuse played a beauty on Saturday night. A pitchers' duel that ultimately went to the Chiefs, 1-0. Matt Chico (4-4) got the well-deserved win. Chico threw 7 shutout innings at Pawtucket. He allowed 3 hits and walked one (intentional while fanning four. Fabio Castro was sensational in his start for the PawSox, allowing a single hit, and striking out 5 in 5 innings. Randor Bierd followed with 2 shutout frames, whiffing four.

Tommy Hottovy (0-1) shouldered the loss, allowing the games' only run to score on a sacrifice fly by Chase Lambin in the eighth. Argenis Reyes had 3 of the 4 Pawtucket hits.

The series and the first half of the season ends on Sunday with a 1:05 p.m. game. Josh Beckett will make a Major League rehab start for the PawSox.
