PawSox Snap Skid, Beat Chiefs 3-1

YRACUSE, N.Y. – The PawSox got great pitching and
clutch hitting in a 3-1 victory over Syracuse in front of 6,038 fans at
NBT Bank Stadium Saturday night.

Looking to snap a four-game losing skid, Jackie Bradley Jr. got the PawSox off on the right foot in the 1st inning blasting a solo home run (#9) to begin the game off of major league rehabber Ross Ohlendorf.

Pawtucket missed out on scoring chances in the 2nd and 3rd innings, but got a clutch hit in the 4th.
With the bases loaded after a pair of singles and a walk with two outs,
Xander Bogaerts singled to right to plate the second run of the game
giving the PawSox a 2-0 lead.

Allen Webster made the start for Pawtucket facings the Chiefs for the
second time this season. His last win with the PawSox came against
Syracuse back on June 1st. He would be in a strong groove from the outset allowing just one batter past first base in his first five inning of work.

In the 6th, Webster allowed a lead-off single to Danny
Espinosa then an RBI double to Tyler Moore to bring the score to 2-1.
Webster would strike out Corey Brown before departing after throwing 95
pitches/59 strikes. Jose Contreras would enter out of the bullpen with
the tying run at third and came up with a strikeout before walking two
straight to load the bases. Contreras would strike out Chris Rahl to end
the inning maintaining a 2-1 advantage.

The PawSox got that run back in the 7th as Jackie Bradley Jr. doubled to left, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a wild pitch making it 3-1.

Chris Martin provided two scoreless innings out of the PawSox bullpen and Anthony Carter delivered a perfect 9th to sew up the 3-1 victory over Syracuse. Allen Webster earned his sixth victory of the season, and his first since June 1st, also against Syracuse.

Jackie Bradley Jr. led the offense going 2-for-4 with a solo homer and a double while scoring a pair of runs.

The PawSox will conclude their series against Syracuse Sunday evening
at 5:00pm at NBT Bank Stadium. Pawtucket will send knuckleballer Steven
Wright (5-6, 3.89) to the mound against righty Ryan Tatusko (5-5, 3.61)
of the Chiefs.

Pawtucket will return to McCoy Stadium Tuesday, August 13th for an eight-game homestand against Louisville and Buffalo.
