PawSox Turn The Tides At McCoy

Johnson waxes Tides, PawSox rally for Win

Lefty Kris Johnson continued his about face from the 2009 season on Sunday evening, leading the PawSox to a 5-4 win over Norfolk. KJ, who lost 16 games a season ago, didn't figure in the decision, but he allowed just 2 unearned runs in 7 innings. In the process, Johnson lowered his ERA from 4.50 to 3.83 for the year. Dustin Richardson (2-0) pitched the eighth, allowed two runs, yet earned the win. Fernando Cabrera picked up the save, his seventh.

Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the eighth, Aaron Bates singled. Pinchrunner Niuman Romero scored on a Josh Reddick double. Jorge Jimenez knocked in the game winner with a single to right. Daniel Nava blasted a two run homer in the first, his team-leading seventh. The PawSox also scored on an Angel Sanchez sacrifice fly in the fifth.

The Charlotte Knights come to McCoy for a Memorial day game on Monday at 1:05 p.m. Carlos Torres (3-5, 3.92) will face Michael Bowden (1-2, 5.93).
