PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- After receiving a number of inquiries from citizens looking to aid relief efforts during the coronavirus pandemic, the city of Pawtucket has created a list for people looking to help.

“The creation of this list is a first step in identifying and managing everyone who wants to get involved in a coordinated effort,” said Pawtucket Mayor Donald R. Grebien. “We want everyone to help. However, everyone’s safety and health
is paramount.”

Anyone who has contracted the virus, or been in the vicinity of someone who has, is asked not to join the efforts. Volunteers will also be required to undergo a background check.

The city is still working out plans for how it will best utilize the volunteers, Grebian said in a statement issued today.

Until then, prospective volunteers can submit their name, phone number, and email address to: volunteer@pawtucketri.com or call 401-616-2241.
