Pawtucket man accused of firing gun in road rage incident arraigned on felony charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Pawtucket man was arraigned Tuesday on felony charges in connection to an alleged road rage incident.
Ailton Carvalho, 33, entered no plea to a nine-count felony complaint that alleges he fired a gun at a car, pointed it at the passengers, and forced a different car off the road Friday night.
The incident reportedly happened in the area of Broncos Highway in Burrillville.
Burrillville police said Carvalho failed a field sobriety test at the scene.
He faces several offenses, including multiple counts of felony assault and battery and carrying a weapon while under the influence of alcohol.
A judge lessened his bail to $75,000 surety bond. It was initially set at $100,000.
In exchange for the decreased bail, Carvalho must give up his firearms and his passport.
Carvalho is due back in court on Sept. 6.
