Pawtucket man arrested for child abuse after two month old daughter is hospitalized for broken femurs, skull fractures

It was reported that a two month old girl was presented to doctors with multiple injuries that included broken femurs and skull fractures.

PAWTUCKET, RI (WLNE) – A  23-year-old Pawtucket man was arrested for child abuse Wednesday after admitting to physically abusing his two-month-old daughter.

Pawtucket police say they were called to Hasbro Children’s Hospital Wednesday for a report of a serious child abuse case.

It was reported that a two month old girl was presented to doctors with multiple injuries that included broken femurs and skull fractures.

Police say an interview with the child’s mother led to the father as a suspect.

The father, later identified as Carlos Melendez Campos, 23, was arrested and later confessed to the abuse, police said.

Campos will be arraigned in Providence District Court Wednesday on three counts of 1st degree child abuse.
