Pawtucket Police arrest hit-and-run driver

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – Police have a suspect in custody following a hit-and-run accident Friday afternoon in Pawtucket.

Pawtucket Police responded to the area of Broad Street and Goff Avenue shortly before 1:30 p.m. Friday for reports of a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian.

The victim, a 67-year-old female, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries to the face and leg.

Police said they located the suspect vehicle and its operator in the parking lot of Centennial Towers on Goff Avenue.

The operator of the vehicle, identified as Jared Delomba, 26, of Pawtucket, was taken into custody and faces the following charges:

  • Duty to Stop, Accident Resulting – Personal Injury/Death
  • Driving to Endanger, Physical Injury Resulting
  • Driving Under the Influence of Liquor/Drugs

Police say Delomba was also issued summons for traffic violations including Refusal to submit to a chemical test, operating without evidence of insurance, and operation of an unregistered motor vehicle.

Delomba is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday and will appear in District Court Monday.
