Pawtucket man arrested for multiple robberies

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – A Pawtucket man was arrested early Thursday morning after robbing a Cumberland Farms and CVS.

Pawtucket Police said the Cumberland Farms at 193 Division Street was robbed by a lone male suspect around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. The suspect claimed he was armed with a gun, but no weapon was ever displayed.

The suspect fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police said the CVS located at 835 Newport Avenue in Pawtucket was robbed several hours later. The suspect in this robbery allegedly told the clerk he was armed with a knife, and left the store with an undisclosed amount of money and a cell phone stolen from the clerk.

According to Police, this was the second robbery at the CVS location in two nights. 

An individual matching the description of the CVS robbery suspect was later located on Walcott Street and taken into custody.

The suspect, identified as Troy Fortes, 31, of Pawtucket, confessed to both the Cumberland Farms and CVS robberies when interviewed by detectives.

Fortes is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at Providence District Court on several counts of First Degree Robbery.
