Pawtucket man arrested on an outstanding warrant confesses to unrelated shooting

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – Last Tuesday, at approximately 8:40 p.m. Pawtucket Police responded to a reported shooting that occurred outside of 69 Talcott Ave.

Upon arrival, officers found a 20-year-old male with non-life-threatening injuries sustained from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

A suspect was seen fleeing the scene on foot, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.

Less than one week later, on August 31, Devonte F. Teixeira, 20, of Pawtucket was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, unrelated to the Talcott Ave shooting. Teixeira then confessed to the shooting, and indicated that the shooting had stemmed from an earlier altercation he had with the victim.

Teixeira is being charged with numerous offenses including Assault with Intent to Commit Murder.  He is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence District Court this afternoon.
