Pawtucket man charged with murder after 84-year-old found dead

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — The Pawtucket Police Department said they found an elderly man dead in a house Saturday.

Authorities said they responded to a wellbeing check at 50 Eddington St. at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Responders said they found a dead elderly man on the floor. They identified the man as 84-years-old.

The name of the deceased has not yet been released.

Police said there was another man inside the house. They identified him as the resident of the Eddington Street home.

Police identified the homeowner as Matthew Dufresne, 34, and said he is charged with domestic violence murder in the first degree.

Dufresne is expected to appear before Providence District Court on Monday for a formal arraignment.
