PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — A Pawtucket man is facing several counts of animal cruelty.

Scott Ellis, 21, is facing three counts of unnecessary cruelty of animals and nine counts of overwork, mistreatment or failure to feed animals.

Pawtucket police said Tuesday they assisted the Rhode Island SPCA with an investigation of reported animal cruelty on April 15.

They executed a warrant and recovered seven rabbits, one parrot, one lizard, and multiple rats and mice at the Pawtucket apartment.

Ellis was arraigned Wednesday and was released on personal recognizance.

Ellis reached out to ABC 6 News denying the charges.

“I pleaded not guilty and I am right to fight this,” he told ABC 6 News.
