Pawtucket Police seize $20K worth of cocaine, arrest two

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – Pawtucket Police arrested two men Friday as part of a months-long investigation into the illegal distribution of cocaine on the city’s streets.

Gumercindo “Cindo” Sanchez, and Derek Ashworth, both 39, were arrested Thursday after Pawtucket Police Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant of Park Street apartment.

The Narcotics Unit seized approximately 360 grams of cocaine, packaging and distribution materials, and around $10,500 in cash. Police say the estimated street value of the drugs found is approximately $20,000.

  • Sanchez and Ashworth face the following charges:
  • Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Deliver
  • Manufacturing Possessing Delivering Cocaine 1oz-1kg
  • Distribution or Manufacturing in or Near School
  • Maintaining a Common Nuisance
  • Third or Subsequent Offense

In addition, Ashworth is charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver.

Pawtucket Police were assisted in the execution of the warrant by the RI State Police SWAT team, RI State Police K9 Unit, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
