Pawtucket police to deploy additional resources against illegal fireworks


PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – The Pawtucket Police Department announced Monday it will be deploying additional resources this summer to combat illegal fireworks.

The Department said it received around 1,300 calls regarding fireworks last year.

“We are asking the public to please contact us at 401-727-9100 if you observe illegal fireworks,” said Acting Public Safety Director and Chief Tina Goncalves. “If you see anything, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we thank the residents in advance for their help and cooperation.”

Pawtucket police also announced residents can submit information about illegal fireworks anonymously. They are asked to call the Community Policing Unit at 401-729-9100 or email Sergeant Dan Ashworth at

The Community Policing Unit office is not staffed 24 hours a day.
