Pawtucket School Department hosts first career fair for high schoolers

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — The Pawtucket School Department held their first ever career fair Saturday morning.
More than 200 students were in attendance while more than 60 representatives from local municipalities set up tables to talk about career exploration with students.
Rhode Island State Police, Pawtucket educators and city workers were among some of the groups tabling for students between ninth and 12th grade.
Ricardo Pimentel, director of career fair for the Pawtucket school department said some of the employers were even seeking summer employment for interested students.
This is giving [the students] the opportunity to know these jobs are out there for them,” Pimentel said.
“Anything is possible for our students and we want to give them an opportunity, that’s what this is all about,” he concluded.
Workshops were also held throughout the course of the event, allowing students to get more information on any specific career that may have piqued their interest.
