Pawtucket supports brewing and distillery scene
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Pawtucket will launch a promotional video for the cities breweries and distilleries Wednesday night.
The free event will take place at 5 p.m. at The Guild, a local brewery in Pawtucket that is featured in the video.
Other featured businesses include: Rhode Island Spirits, Smug Brewing Company, White Dog Distilling, Crooked Current Brewery, and Foolproof Brewing Company.
Jeremy Duffy, co-founder/manager partner of The Guild, told ABC 6 News, “We could not have a better partner in the City of Pawtucket. They continue to market and promote our industry, and with that we have grown with now 4 breweries and 2 distilleries.”
There are currently 4 breweries and 2 distilleries in the city, and many of those have opened in the past 5 years.
John Windle, taproom manager of Foolproof Brewing Company shared with ABC 6, “The event tonight celebrates what we, the breweries and distilleries, collectively, have been able to accomplish. This is in large part due to the ease with which small businesses are able to operate and thrive in the City of Pawtucket. We are grateful to be a part of this flourishing community, and for the continued support of the City of Pawtucket.”
Kara Larson, co-owner of Rhode Island Spirits, told ABC 6, “We’re so excited to see Pawtucket’s craft industry becoming a highlight of the city. We are proud to draw new visitors to downtown!”
ABC 6 sat down with Anthony Herbert, economic and cultural affairs officer for Pawtucket, to talk about the success the city has seen because of the small businesses.
“We are going to put some paid advertising dollars to get the video out for one, Pawtucket residents, but also people in the wider southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island region, to spread awareness. What we have I think is so many hidden gems in the city,” added Herbert.
Pawtucket paid for the promotional video as part of a larger marketing campaign.
“We’re trying to market Pawtucket as a destination for Rhode Island, for the region, and bring in more visitors, more tourists. These businesses are such an incredible tourist asset for the city.” added Herbert.
The mayor of Pawtucket and other officials will join the 6 small businesses in the celebration Wednesday night.
