Pawtucket YMCA waiving membership fees for federal workers
The YMCA of Pawtucket is looking to ease the financial burden for federal government employees by waiving membership fees for furloughed workers.
In addition to the offer, current members who have been furloughed will be refunded for the month of January.
The organization says it’s in an effort to help ease the stress during such a turbulent time.
“Whether it’s our group exercise classes, if they want to swim laps in the pool, if they need to use our drop-off babysitting services we call ‘Child Watch’ or just run on a treadmill, it’s all great ways to get the stress out here at the YMCA,” Pawtucket YMCA CEO Charlie Clifford told ABC 6 Thursday.
The branches in Lincoln, Woonsocket, Cumberland and Coventry are also waiving their membership fees.
Anyone who is interested and a furloughed worker must bring their government ID, along with any furlough documentation to the membership desk.
